Sudden vulvar itching may be related to vulvovaginal candidiasis, bacterial vaginosis, contact dermatitis, pubic lice, vulvar squamous epithelial hyperplasia, etc. It can be treated by keeping the local area clean and dry, using antifungal drugs, antibiotics, antihistamines, and surgical treatment.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis is usually caused by Candida infection and is mainly characterized by vulvar itching and increased leucorrhea that looks like tofu. Patients can use clotrimazole vaginal tablets, miconazole nitrate suppositories, nystatin vaginal effervescent tablets and other drugs for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. Bacterial vaginosis is mostly caused by imbalance of vaginal flora. Common symptoms include vulvar itching accompanied by fishy-smelling leucorrhea. Medications such as metronidazole vaginal gel and clindamycin phosphate vaginal cream can be used as directed by your doctor. Contact dermatitis is usually caused by exposure to allergens or irritants and manifests as redness, swelling and itching of the vulva. Topical hydrocortisone cream can be used to relieve symptoms. In severe cases, loratadine tablets can be taken orally. Pubic pediculosis is caused by pubic lice and is characterized by severe itching and visible lice. Treatment requires shaving the pubic hair and applying Baibu tincture. Squamous epithelial hyperplasia of the vulva is a chronic vulvar disease that requires pathological examination for diagnosis and, if necessary, surgical removal of the lesions.

In daily life, you should choose cotton breathable underwear and avoid wearing tight pants. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva, but do not wash it excessively. Avoid using harsh lotions and keep your vulva dry after bathing. The diet should be light and eat less spicy food. If symptoms persist or worsen, it is recommended to seek medical examination promptly and standardize treatment after a clear diagnosis. Sexual intercourse should be avoided during treatment, and spouses should be examined and treated at the same time to prevent cross-infection.
