Drinking water before meals for middle-aged and elderly people can help lose weight!
Scientists in Virginia, USA, conducted a 12-week study on 48 seniors aged 55-75 and found that drinking two glasses of water before meals can help dieters lose an average of 5 pounds.
The researchers divided the survey respondents into two groups. The first group of dieters did not drink much water before meals, while the second group of dieters drank two glasses of water before each meal. After 12 weeks, the first group lost an average of 11 pounds, and the second group lost an average of 15.5 pounds.
Dr. Brenda Davy, who participated in the study, said that drinking water is so effective in weight loss because the water diners drink before meals fills their stomachs, and the water itself has no calories.
