Many men who are new to sports always tend to equate fitness with muscle gain. In fact, the two are included and included - muscle gain is a subdivision of many male fitness goals. All actions must be centered around the core of "increasing skeletal muscle content". Training must be sufficient, the diet must be enough to have a caloric surplus, and the sleep must be more than 7 hours a day. Any difference will be discounted.
The fitness circle has been arguing about this for several years now. Many veterans who have been practicing for many years believe that the goal of male fitness is to build muscle. Otherwise, if you run for half a day and do exercises for half a day, your muscle mass will not increase, and you will still be prone to osteoporosis and muscle loss when you get older. Training is in vain; but there are also many ordinary fitness people who don’t buy it. They say that I just want to sweat and relieve stress after get off work. Why do I have to force myself to eat unpalatable chicken breasts and practice until I can’t lift my arms the next day? As long as you feel comfortable, that's it. There is actually nothing wrong with both statements, but they are just from different standpoints. The former is from the perspective of long-term physical benefits, while the latter is from the perspective of current life priorities. No one is right or wrong.
But having said that, the two are not completely separated. Even if your fitness goal is not to grow muscles at all, occasionally adding some strength training related to muscle growth will have much higher benefits than just doing aerobics. I used to have a running friend who used to run every day and would injure his knees every time he ran a half marathon. Later, he was advised to train his legs and core two days a week. Not only did his knees no longer hurt, but his pace improved by half a minute. On the other hand, if you are focused on building muscle, you cannot completely forget about other fitness content. Do low-intensity aerobics for half an hour two or three times a week. This can not only control your body fat from rising too fast, but also improve your cardiorespiratory capacity. When you train with heavy weights, you won't be so out of breath that you can't even move smoothly.
A few days ago, a kid who just entered college sent me a private message, saying that his living expenses were limited and if he couldn’t afford protein powder, he would not be able to exercise. As soon as I heard this, I knew that he had confused fitness with muscle building. If you just want to move around and improve your physical fitness, you don’t need these supplements at all. Running two laps on the playground every day and doing a few push-ups in the dormitory is already a good workout. If you really want to go in the direction of building muscle, it’s not too late to research diet and supplements. For ordinary men, there is really no need to struggle with concepts. Whether it is fitness or muscle building, it is better to move than to slump on the sofa and drink Coke, right?
