Circumcision generally does not directly lead to an increase in penis size, but it may cause visual differences due to changes in appearance. Circumcision mainly solves the problem of excessive foreskin or phimosis. The complete exposure of the glans after surgery may make the penis more visually obvious.

Circumcision is a plastic surgery rather than an enlargement surgery, and its principle is to remove the excess foreskin tissue covering the glans. The structure of the corpus cavernosum remains uninterrupted after surgery, and the actual length and circumference during erection are usually the same as before surgery. There may be three reasons why some patients feel enlarged. First, the glans that was originally wrapped by foreskin is completely exposed. Second, it takes time for local edema to subside after surgery. Third, psychological factors affect subjective judgment. Clinical observation shows that the shape of the penis will stabilize after the edema has completely subsided about three months after surgery.

In rare cases, if the patient has severe phimosis before surgery that limits penile development, the erection may be improved after surgery by removing the restraints. This situation is more common in children who have undergone surgery before puberty, and the effect is not obvious in adult patients. It should be noted that improper postoperative care may cause infection or scar contracture, which will affect the appearance.

It is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise or sex for three months after surgery, and wear loose cotton underwear to reduce friction. Keep the wound clean and dry, and use topical antibiotics such as erythromycin ointment as directed by your doctor to prevent infection. If persistent pain, abnormal swelling or difficulty urinating occurs, timely follow-up is required. Kegel exercises can be used to strengthen the function of the pelvic floor muscles on a daily basis, but any drug or device that claims to enlarge the penis lacks medical basis.
