Infections after circumcision surgery can usually recover and require prompt medical attention. Infection after circumcision may be related to improper postoperative care, bacterial infection and other factors, and manifests as symptoms such as redness, swelling, pain, and exudation.
If postoperative infections are detected early and treated properly, most patients can fully recover. Mild infection manifests as slight redness and swelling around the incision or local exudation. The doctor may recommend using antibiotics such as cefaclor granules and amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium tablets to control the infection, along with iodophor disinfection and local application of mupirocin ointment. Keep the wound dry and clean, avoid strenuous exercise or friction, and change sterile dressings daily to aid recovery. The infection symptoms gradually subsided within 1-2 weeks after surgery, and the wound healing process was not significantly affected.
If the infection is not controlled in time, it may develop into serious conditions such as purulent inflammation or cellulitis. At this time, anti-infective treatment needs to be strengthened, intravenous infusion of broad-spectrum antibiotics such as ceftriaxone sodium for injection, and wound drainage and debridement if necessary. Severe infection may delay healing by up to 3-4 weeks and in rare cases can lead to complications such as scarring or urethral stricture. If the fever exceeds 38 degrees Celsius, the wound is severely painful, or purulent secretions increase after surgery, you should return to the hospital immediately for treatment.
After surgery, you should wear loose cotton underwear to reduce friction and avoid sitting or riding a bicycle for long periods of time. The diet should be light and rich in high-quality protein and vitamin C, such as egg custard, broccoli, etc. to promote tissue repair. No sexual intercourse or masturbation is allowed for 1 month after surgery, and waterproof dressings should be used to protect the wound when bathing. Regular reexamination will be carried out until the doctor confirms complete healing. If any abnormal symptoms occur during this period, please contact the attending physician in time.
