Mupirocin ointment can be used to treat glans skin infections, but it must be used according to the doctor's instructions after a clear diagnosis. Mupirocin ointment is a topical antibiotic suitable for skin infections caused by Gram-positive cocci, such as impetigo, folliculitis, etc. The skin on the glans is thin and tender, and self-medication may mask the condition or cause adverse reactions.

When the glans is red, swollen, itchy or oozing, it may be caused by factors such as bacterial infection, fungal infection or allergies. Mupirocin ointment is effective against bacterial infections, but not against fungi or allergies. Clean and dry the affected area before use, apply appropriate amount of ointment to the infected area, 2-3 times a day. Avoid contact with eyes and other mucous membranes. If any discomfort such as burning or stinging occurs during medication, discontinue use immediately.

If balanitis is caused by fungi such as Candida albicans, antifungal ointments such as clotrimazole cream need to be used instead. Inflammation caused by allergic factors requires antihistamine drugs. When combined with underlying diseases such as foreskin or diabetes, the infection is likely to recur. Keep the perineum clean and dry every day, avoid using irritating lotions, and choose breathable cotton underwear. If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 3 days of medication, you must seek medical attention promptly for secretion testing or pathological examination.
