There’s a small, hard lump on my scrotum

The appearance of a small, hard lump in the scrotum could potentially be due to varicocele or a testicular cyst; it is also possible that it is caused by epididymitis. Treatment options include medication or surgery, and it is important to maintain good local hygiene.

When suffering from this condition, a small number of patients may experience swelling in the scrotum while standing. There may also be intermittent pain or a feeling of heaviness in the area, which can even radiate to the lower abdomen and lower back. The symptoms tend to worsen after strenuous physical exertion. In such cases, the use of a scrotal support is recommended to help maintain smooth bowel movements and avoid increasing abdominal pressure. Medications such as flavonoids can be chosen; these agents reduce the permeability of capillaries, have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and help alleviate pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, can also be used for treatment. In severe cases, surgical intervention, such as laparoscopic surgery, may be necessary.

It generally occurs in the head of the testicle and the epididymis. When the cyst increases in size, it may cause a small hard lump to appear on the scrotum. When the cyst is very small, there may be no obvious symptoms, and regular check-ups are sufficient without special treatment. In severe cases, surgery can be performed to remove the cyst.

The posterior edge surrounding the testicles is where the epididymis is located; it serves to store sperm after they are produced. If there is an inflammatory response or a bacterial infection, the epididymis may develop small nodules or become enlarged, causing a hard lump to appear on the scrotum. This condition can be alleviated by using a scrotal support. When the pain is severe, pain medications such as acetaminophen can be used, and applying heat to the affected area can also help.
