Cervicitis may affect pregnancy, but in most cases it will not cause long-term infertility with prompt treatment. Cervicitis may cause increased secretions, changes in pH or cervical adhesion, affecting the passage of sperm or the implantation of a fertilized egg.
Mild cervicitis usually has little impact on pregnancy. The inflammatory reaction caused by pathogenic infection may only cause changes in the properties of cervical secretions, such as increased leucorrhea consistency or abnormal pH value, which may temporarily prevent sperm from penetrating cervical mucus. If patients with acute cervicitis are not complicated by salpingitis or pelvic inflammatory disease, the cervical environment can return to normal function after standard anti-infective treatment. In patients with chronic cervicitis accompanied by cervical erosion, inflammatory cells may reduce sperm survival rate, but after local physical therapy or drug control, the probability of pregnancy can be significantly improved.
Severe cervicitis may cause cervical canal stenosis or adhesions due to long-term inflammation, which directly prevents sperm from entering the uterine cavity. Cervicitis caused by mycoplasma, chlamydia and other pathogens may lead to fallopian tube obstruction due to ascending infection. People with cervicitis combined with cervical insufficiency may have an increased risk of miscarriage after pregnancy. Some patients develop cervical polyps or Knott's cysts due to repeated inflammation, which may mechanically affect pregnancy.
It is recommended to undergo a gynecological examination before preparing for pregnancy. After the cervicitis is diagnosed, you can use Baofukang suppository, Sophora flavescens gel and other drugs as directed by the doctor. People with chlamydia infection can use azithromycin tablets, and people with bacterial vaginosis combined with cervicitis can use metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets. Avoid excessive vaginal douching and pay attention to cleanliness during intercourse. Keep your vulva dry during pregnancy preparations, choose pure cotton underwear and change it daily. If pregnancy is still not possible after treatment, fallopian tube patency and ovulation function need to be checked.
