Vulvar itching may be related to vaginitis, vulvar skin disease, allergic reactions, diabetes, psychological factors and other causes. It usually manifests as local redness and swelling, burning sensation, abnormal secretions and other symptoms.
Vaginitis is a common cause of vulvar itching, mainly caused by bacterial, fungal or trichomonas infection. Patients may develop white tofu-like discharge or yellow-green foamy discharge. During treatment, you can use clotrimazole vaginal tablets, metronidazole suppositories, nifurtel, nystatin vaginal soft capsules and other drugs as directed by your doctor. Vulvar skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis can also cause itching, which may appear as dry, flaky skin or erythematous papules. Hydrocortisone cream or tacrolimus ointment can be applied topically to relieve symptoms. Allergic reactions are common when you are allergic to items such as sanitary napkins, detergents or condoms. Obvious itching and rash will occur at the contact area. You need to stop using the allergen immediately and use loratadine tablets to fight allergies. Diabetic patients are prone to vulvar itching due to poor blood sugar control. They need to monitor blood sugar and use insulin or metformin to control blood sugar levels. Long-term mental stress, anxiety and other psychological factors may cause itching through neural regulation mechanisms. This situation requires psychological counseling and stress management.
It is recommended to keep the vulva clean and dry, choose cotton breathable underwear, and avoid using irritating lotions. Pay attention to reducing the intake of spicy food in the diet, and supplement vitamin B and probiotics appropriately. If the itching persists or is accompanied by symptoms such as abnormal secretions and ulcers, you should seek medical examination in time to identify the cause and then provide targeted treatment. Avoid excessive scratching on a daily basis to prevent secondary infection. When itching occurs, you can use cold compresses to relieve discomfort.
