Wearing non-breathable underwear may cause inflammation. Airtight underwear can easily cause the perineum to become moist and hot, creating conditions for bacterial growth, thereby increasing the probability of inflammation.

When wearing underwear made of chemical fiber or too tight on a daily basis, perineal sweat is difficult to evaporate, and the local temperature and humidity increase. This environment is conducive to the reproduction of microorganisms such as Candida albicans and Escherichia coli, which may induce vulvitis, vaginitis or urinary tract infection. Women are more likely to experience symptoms such as increased secretions, itching, and burning pain due to their special physiological structure, while men may suffer from scrotal eczema or posthitis due to accumulation of sweat.

In rare cases, people with sensitive constitutions may experience skin allergic reactions, manifesting as perineal erythema or papules, even if they wear underwear with poor breathability for a short period of time. Diabetic patients or people with low immunity have a significantly increased risk of inflammation due to weak skin barrier function.

It is recommended to choose underwear made of breathable materials such as pure cotton or modal, and avoid wearing tight pants or cycling pants for a long time. Pay attention to perineum cleaning every day and change underwear promptly after sweating. Women during menstruation need to change sanitary products more frequently. When abnormal secretions, persistent itching or painful urination occur, you should go to a gynecologist or dermatologist in time to avoid using lotions on your own to disrupt the balance of the bacterial flora.
